Antonio Conte wants reassurances over Inter’s transfer plans before agreeing to stay at the club, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Inter are marching towards the Serie A title with six games left but doubts remain over Conte’s future, after he requested ‘clarity’ last night from owners Suning at the end of this season.

La Repubblica’s print edition said Conte was likely to stay because he is due to earn €13.5 million in wages next season, while also feeling attached to Inter’s players.

However, Conte also wants Suning to guarantee that Inter will continue to be ambitious, because his objective next season is to make progress in the UEFA Champions League.

If Inter give Conte a squad which is capable of making an impact in Europe, the report explained, he will be more than happy to remain at the club.

Otherwise, Conte could assess his options and take a different decision – although Gianluca Di Marzio said earlier today that he was almost certain to stay with the Nerazzurri.
