Italian Journalist Maurizio Pistocchi: “Hellas Verona’s Davide Faraoni Caught Inter Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic With Arm”

The decision to disallow a Hellas Verona equaliser during Inter’s 1-0 win today was the correct decision after a foul on goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, Italian journalist Maurizio Pistocchi claims.

Inter earned a 1-0 win over Verona courtesy of Matteo Darmian’s second half goal at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, sending Antonio Conte’s side 13 points clear at the top of the table and on the verge of the title.

However, Verona saw a late Davide Faraoni equaliser disallowed after the full-back challenged Handanovic at the back post, before applying the finish after the Slovenian had fumbled the ball.

Taking to Twitter, Pistocchi posted a video of the incident and argued that Faraoni had moved his arm into Handanovic’s, forcing the goalkeeper to miss the ball and drop it at the Verona man’s feet for the goal.

“Faraone challenges Handanovic as he prepared to catch the ball, and with his left arm knocks the left arm of the keeper. Foul,” Pistocchi tweeted.

Following the win over the Gialloblu, Inter only require a further six points from their last five games to be crowned champions for the first time since 2010.
