Inter coach Antonio Conte declared that he saw a change in the players as they moved a step closer to the Scudetto with a 2-0 victory over Crotone today.

The win at the Stadio Ezio Scifa came courtesy of second half goals from Christian Eriksen and Achraf Hakimi, and means that Inter will be crowned champions tomorrow if Atalanta fail to beat Sassuolo.

In an interview with InterTV after the match, Conte took the opportunity to praise his players and felt that the victory was particularly sweet, with his squad set to become title winners.

“This match has the flavour of victory, of having approached it in an important way in order to achieve an extraordinary objective,” Conte declared.

“Seeing a bit of everything that we have managed to do in these two years, I have to compliment the guys, because they worked so hard and shared this dream. Today they are one step away from realising it.

“I see satisfaction on the players’ faces, because it is something that is changing the status of many of them. I have spoken a lot about a winning mentality and the fact that the only way to enter the history of the club is to win.

“A prestigious club like Inter, where the fans were are linked to the treble, finally winning such a Scudetto is extraordinary. It also takes into account that there was a reign that lasted nine years. This is a truly incredible thing and all the credit goes to these guys.”

Conte also admitted that he was lucky to be able to rely on such a group of players at his disposal in order to lead the club to the title, whilst dedicating it to staff behind the scenes.

“The fact of having shared this dream, this path, this desire to enter the history books of this club has led to the players showing the desire to commit to a project and a cause, putting aside their ego, was fundamental.

“We have built something beautiful with everyone who works at Pinetina. The players are fantastic, but behind them are all the staff, the gardeners, the warehouse workers, the guards. We are a single body and this is the only way to explain such a title,” he concluded.
