Inter striker Romelu Lukaku declared that he has enjoyed the best season of his career after his goals fired the Nerazzurri to the Scudetto.

Antonio Conte’s side sealed a first league title since 2010 yesterday as they were crowned champions of Italy, courtesy of Atalanta’s 1-1 draw against Sassuolo.

Having struck 21 league goals this season, Lukaku has played a pivotal role in Inter’s success and spoke of his joy at becoming a champion in an interview with Italian television channel Sky Sport Italia yesterday.

“I am very happy for all Inter fans across the world, for the team, the coach, the staff, the President and everyone else. It has been a good year for us, I am really proud to play for Inter,” the Belgium international claimed.

“Yes, this was the best year of my career. Last year was also good. but this year we achieved something and I hope we can continue like this. I am really very happy. I want to thank everyone, it has been a good year for us.”

Lukaku expressed his joy at leading Inter to the title and admitted that it was new territory for him and many of his teammates, as they looked to celebrate the Scudetto in Milan.

“For me it’s time to celebrate with the people. I told my friend that the best thing to do was to see the fans, for me and for many of my teammates it’s our first title so it’s a moment to share with them,” the 27-year-old added.

Lukaku joined Inter from Premier League outfit Manchester United in 2019 and has gone on to score 61 goals in 92 appearances for the club in all competitions.
