After wrapping up the Serie A title this season, Inter have begun looking ahead towards the transfer window and have identified Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic as a target.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Nerazzurri are set to overhaul their defence this summer with Andrea Ranocchia and Aleksandar Kolarov out of contract, and are looking for viable alternatives to challenge the first choice trio of Alessandro Bastoni, Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij.

The Nerazzurri have turned to Serbia international Milenkovic but face competition from city rivals AC Milan for the 23-year-old, who has impressed in Florence this season.

A further stumbling block to any move for Milenkovic would be Fiorentina’s demands of €30 million for him, with Inter’s perilous financial situation currently preventing them from committing too heavily in the transfer window.

Inter may yet be able to sanction a deal if a star name departs at the end of the season, but much of their transfer planning is dependent on securing funds.

Milenkovic joined Fiorentina from Partizan in his homeland in 2017 and has gone on to make 122 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals.
