For the first time in eleven years, Inter are champions of Italy and have won the Serie A title.
After a routine 2-0 win over Crotone, whom were consigned to relegation with the result, and Sassuolo holding Atalanta to a draw, Inter became officially uncatchable at the top.
Eleven years of pain have finally turned to joy as Antonio Conte has brought the Scudetto back to Milan.
Here’s what we learned from this week’s monumental triumph.
1) Danilo D’Ambrosio And Frog – This Is For You
Seeing the likes of Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic finally become champions at Inter after coming in under Roberto Mancini and surviving the Frank De Boer era is excellent.
However, to see Andrea Ranocchia and Danilo D’Ambrosio become champions is truly a remarkable feat given their service to this club over the past near decade.
Both men have been written off and forgotten about endless times yet have still kept coming back and both men have more than played their part this term.
Soak it in gentleman , you’ve been here since the start of this road.
2) Christian Eriksen’s Turnaround Is Complete
From frozen out prior to January to scoring in the win that crowned Inter champions, it has been quite the turnaround from Christian Eriksen.
From being surplus to requirements to now a starting XI pick, Eriksen has truly undergone a full transformation this term.
His excellent goal against Crotone cements his place in Inter history and moves his contribution into something truly concrete.
Wonder what Kaveh Solekhol made of him winning the Scudetto this weekend? Should he have stayed at Spurs instead?
3) Big Rom One Of The Fans
From the day he arrived at Malpensa in the summer of 2019, Romelu Lukaku has truly been Interista.
The fans and player alike hit off that day and haven’t stopped bouncing off each other since.
After the Sassuolo and Atalanta game finished, the Belgian striker rode around Milan with his head hanging out of the sun roof of a car swinging an Inter flag around his head.
Whilst singing Inter songs from his sun roof, Lukaku was able to basque amongst his people and celebrate the greatest season of his career.
Enjoy it Rom, you’ve earned this.
4) Antonio The Genius Conte
How different things looked in November. Inter out the top four and out of the Champions League.
Many questioned the manager and rightly so at times but the man from Lecce rose to the occasion.
Sticking with his best back three, integrating Eriksen and Perisic back in and also sticking to something more of a 3-5-2 allowed Inter to steamroll their way to the league title.
Ending the reign of Juventus that he started is something bitter sweet for the man who coached the Italian national side at Euro 2016.
No haters for Conte now. Just lovers made up of fans who hated him for years during his playing career.
5) Steven Zhang Set To Remain President?
Steven Zhang well and truly soaked up the Scudetto celebrations on Sunday evening.
The Nerazzurri’s Chinese Presdient, member of the club’s ownership group Suning, wore his club scarf and waved a flag off the roof of Inter HQ to fans below.
Much has been made of the ownership situation this season and things still aren’t 100% settled but it seems like we may get some positive news in the coming days.
Inter are much more sellable asset now they sit as champions and now number one seeds for next season’s Champions League.
But it may be so that the Suning group stay in charge? Rumours are they may be able to seek some investment to support them in keeping control of the club.
More will become clear in the fall out of Inter’s triumph.
