Inter’s players will respond on an individual basis to Steven Zhang’s request for a wage cut, according to a leading Italian broadcaster today.

As per Sky Sport Italia, Zhang met the first-team squad in training today along with chief executives Beppe Marotta and Alessandro Antonello, to discuss the club’s difficult financial situation.

Zhang outlined the problems facing Inter and asked players to give up two months’ wages, in order to help the Nerazzurri ease their economic problems.

The meeting lasted around 15 minutes and now it will be up to Inter’s players to provide a response, but they will do so individually and not as a group.

Inter’s players were widely reported in Monday’s papers to be against the idea of giving up two months’ wages, despite the club’s well-documented financial difficulties.

The squad is thought to be open to renegotiating all their contracts, though, which would at least give Suning the chance to defer certain payments until a later date.
