Inter’s players are annoyed with Suning after being asked to take wage cuts, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition said there was a sense of ‘general irritation’ filtering out of the Nerazzurri’s dressing room, after they were asked to give up two monthly installments of their salaries.

Steven Zhang explained the club’s financial problems in a meeting with the first-team squad on Monday, but it looks unlikely that Inter’s players will accept the proposal.

The alternative solution would be to defer the two installments into next season, potentially along with the players’ Serie A title bonuses.

Inter’s hopes of cutting costs among the squad will depend on whether the players are prepared to make another financial sacrifice for Suning, the Rome-based paper explained.

For instance, Inter’s overseas players are thought to be ‘anything but convinced’ about the idea of helping their owners, as Suning battle serious economic problems.
