Inter held constructive talks with Lautaro Martinez’s agent over the weekend, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri had made contact again with Alejandro Camano to discuss the striker’s contract situation.

Inter’s conversation with Camano was said to involve ‘conciliatory tones’, in which the club’s management reiterated their desire to extend Lautaro’s contract with the same conditions negotiated previously.

The contact was described as ‘positive’ although Inter can’t go any further than this phone call until they have sorted their financial situation.

Lautaro is set to receive a new three-year deal with his annual salary increased to €4.5 million plus bonuses, while his release clause will be removed.

Inter made it clear to Camano that they will hold proper talks in the coming days, once they have clarified their situation at corporate level.

Lautaro has gone on the record to say he doesn’t want to leave Inter, while he’s also made similar comments in private according to this report.

The 23-year-old is happy with life in Milan and would be reluctant to disrupt the harmony his family have found in the city.
