Antonio Conte could choose to stay at Inter for financial reasons as much as anything else, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, Conte has convincing arguments on both sides as he contemplates whether to stay with the Nerazzurri or leave after two seasons in charge.

Conte would benefit from staying at Inter because he doesn’t want to start again from scratch at another club, the Rome-based paper explained.

He is also on great terms with everyone at the club and Inter’s supporters, but then there is the fact he earns €13 million annually (after tax) and it would be difficult to find anyone else who could guarantee him that kind of salary.

Conte therefore has three reasons he would want to stay, but the report warned that there were also three seasons he could choose to walk out on Inter in the summer.

He would not want to spend another season performing extra roles on top of his duty as a coach, while he might also be reluctant to coach the team if the squad is dismantled and downgraded for financial reasons.

In addition to that, Conte might be attracted by the thought of leaving as a winner instead of risking a third season where things could go wrong.
