Inter Could Sacrifice Alessandro Bastoni With Contract Talks On Hold, Italian Media Claim

Alessandro Bastoni’s future at Inter is in doubt, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, Antonio Conte has laid down certain conditions if he is to stay at Inter and his most important one regards the club’s transfer plans.

Conte has warned Inter he would leave if they sold Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez or Nicolo Barella – but the club will need to make a sacrifice somewhere because of their financial problems.

Bastoni is another player considered to be crucial in Conte’s Inter, but he could be the one to depart instead with contract talks still on hold.

Inter have negotiated a new deal with Bastoni, which would see the defender’s annual salary rise to €4 million, but nothing has been finalised and there is no guarantee it ever will be.

Bastoni’s departure would be ‘painful’ for Inter, the report argued, but nowhere near as painful as it would be to let go of Lukaku, Lautaro or Barella.

Conte would go to war for those three players and is prepared to link his own future directly to them, but that doesn’t appear to be the case with Bastoni.
