Inter goalkeeper Daniele Padelli has spoken of his pride at being involved in the squad’s Scudetto triumph this season, revealing that it was the achievement of a lifelong dream.

The Nerazzurri bring their season to a close when they take on the Zebrette at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this afternoon, having ended an 11-year wait for the title, and Padelli is amongst the substitutes for the visit of his former club.

Speaking to Inter TV ahead of kick-off, the 35-year-old was delighted to have helped the team to the title and revealed what it had meant to him.

“It will seem like a cliche but it is not. It is the dream I had as a kid, since I was playing in the park in my town. It is indescribable, something too big for me to express,” Padelli declared.

“We feel pride. We struggled across two difficult and complicated seasons. We lost a Europa League Final and this year we managed to fulfil the dream we had from the first moment two years ago. We will carry this pride until our last days at Inter.”

The Nerazzurri enjoyed a stunning period of form in the second half of the season to break clear of rivals AC Milan and clinch the Scudetto, and Padelli pointed to a 3-0 victory over the Rossoneri in February as a significant moment.

“The turning point was the second derby. We beat the team that were first in the table, making our mark on the title race and telling everyone that we are here,” Padelli added.

Since joining Inter from Torino in 2017, Padelli has only featured three times for the club and is out of contract this summer.
