Cagliari are determined to push through a deal for Radja Nainggolan with Inter, according to a report in the Italian media today.

La Nuova Sardegna’s print edition said Nainggolan was a transfer priority for the Rossoblu, who have already seen a first bid of €3 million rejected by Inter.

Cagliari have since upped their offer to €5 million, which would be €2 million in cash plus compensation for Inter’s Scudetto bonus payments (€1.5-2 million) for Nicolo Barella.

Inter would also have an option in the deal, valid for 18 months from July 1, to sign Cagliari midfielder Riccardo Ladinetti – who was on loan at Olbia in Serie C this season – for €2.5 million.

Nainggolan could alternatively agree to mutually terminate his contract with Inter, at which point he would be free to sign for Cagliari without a transfer fee.

Inter are said to be considering this option, but no further details were offered.

Nainggolan made 22 appearances for Cagliari after joining on loan in January, helping Leonardo Semplici’s side secure Serie A survival with two games to spare.
