Inter have launched an incredible last-minute bid to hijack Simone Inzaghi’s deal with Lazio, according to a leading Italian transfer expert.

Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed the Nerazzurri are pressing Inzaghi again to accept their offer to replace Antonio Conte as head coach.

Inzaghi spent most of last night talking with Lazio president Claudio Lotito and reached an agreement for a new contract with the Biancocelesti.

However, he has not signed that deal yet and now he seems to be having second thoughts, just when it seemed Inter’s hopes had vanished.

Inzaghi is speaking with Lotito right now and is explaining to the Lazio president that Inter have made a very important offer, not least in terms of salary (although details weren’t mentioned).

What’s more, his agent Tulio Tinti is at Inter’s offices in Milan to work out whether there is still room for maneouvre with Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio.

Inzaghi is out of contract with Lazio next month and talks over a new deal have dragged on for several weeks, leading to speculation he could leave.

The former striker took charge of the Biancocelesti in 2016 and has guided them to one Coppa Italia title and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies, as well as qualification for last season’s UEFA Champions League.
