Federico Dimarco bid an emotional farewell to Hellas Verona on Wednesday as the wing-back prepares to return to Inter.

Inter sent Dimarco on a season-long loan to the Gialloblu, but now they are expected to recall him and use him at left wing-back next year.

The 23-year-old scored five goals and provided five assists for Ivan Juric’s side, and he will be rewarded by getting a chance to play for his boyhood club.

Dimarco posted on Instagram today: “It’s been a long year, full of difficulty but also great achievements.

“We had a great season, finishing 10th in Serie A, which should make us nothing but proud of the work we’ve done!

“Personally I’ve had a fantastic season full of emotions and I’d like to thank everyone, from the staff to the club workers to everyone who had faith in me.

“A special thanks to our fans, who even in this difficult season without fans in stadiums have made their support felt.

“Thank you, Verona!”
