Ex-Hellas Verona forward Preben Elkjaer believes Christian Eriksen will continue to be successful at Inter under Simone Inzaghi, Danish media reports.

Speaking during an interview with Danish media outlet BT.dk, Preben Elkjaer said: “Eriksen must always play, and I also think that the new coach will see him in the same way.”

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen endured a very difficult start to his time at Inter after his move from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

He did not impress current coach Antonio Conte when he played, which led to him being kept on the bench more often than not.

As the 2020/21 season progressed however, Christian Eriksen began to dominate games and impress Antonio Conte with the creative talents he had exhibited whilst playing for Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur.

Preben Elkjaer believes it took time for Christian Eriksen to settle in Italy, and that he will continue to pay to a high standard under new boss Simone Inzaghi.

“It took him a while to get to know the mentality and the culture but now he has learned it. Simone Inzaghi is a completely different type and calmer than Antonio Conte, and I think that fits Eriksen very well.”

Speaking in relation to Antonio Conte’s dramatic exit from Inter, Preben Elkjaer showed no surprise that things ended the way they did.

“If you have followed Conte in recent years, you also know that every single season there are problems between him and management.”
