Ex-Inter coach Antonio Conte has said that beating AC Milan halfway through the season was the key turning point in winning the Serie A title, according to an Italian broadcaster’s report.

Whilst speaking in an interview with DAZN about his future and how he is spending his free time, Antonio Conte highlighted the commanding 3-0 win over A city rivals AC Milan as the decisive moment in the title race.

“The decisive moment was when we overtook Milan. At that moment you have to bear the pressure, because from a hunter you become a hare.”

That victory in February took Inter four points clear of AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table, and from there the Nerazzurri never looked back.

Antonio Conte was also full of praise for the Inter players because many of them had never won any trophies before. He spoke of their need to change their mindset now that they are Serie A champions.

“As I always say, when you start winning, victory must enter your brain. It has to be yours.”

Despite clearly having intended to be at Inter for more than two seasons, Antonio Conte is still very proud of his achievement.

“The goal when I signed for Inter was a three-year project to bring Inter back to have ambition, to return to play for important goals. Being able to do it in the second year was a great thing.”
