Federico Dimarco is attracting interest from Cagliari, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Inter have recalled the wing-back after a season-long loan at Hellas Verona, but Dimarco is not certain to remain with the Nerazzurri for next season.

La Nuova Sardegna (via Calcio Casteddu) said Cagliari sporting director Stefano Capozucca had set his sights on the 23-year-old, although a deal is likely to be ‘very difficult’.

Dimarco is under contract with Inter until 2023 and will want to fight for a place in the first team under Simone Inzaghi.

Cagliari are looking for a replacement for Charalampos Lykogiannis, with Lazio showing an interest in the 27-year-old.

Dimarco’s agent Giuseppe Riso stated as recently as Friday though that he will stay at Inter, so the former Italy under-21 international is unlikely to join the Rossoblu.

Hellas Verona finished 10th in Serie A last season and Dimarco was a key figure in Ivan Juric’s side, scoring five goals and providing five assists.
