Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen is in stable condition after collapsing during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland, but further tests will be required to establish the causes and ramifications of his health emergency.

Speaking at an official press conference as reported by FCInterNews, Danish Football Association communications manager Jakob Hoyer has given an update on the Dane’s condition, conveying the good news that his condition has stabilized.

However, more time will be required before any certainty can be found regarding the causes of the 29-year-old’s unexpected collapse, or the future of his recovery or prospective return to football.

Hoyer also urged respect for the midfielder’s privacy, and for that of his teammates.

He reminded members of the press that Eriksen’s Danish teammates sPierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Martin Braithwaite may not be in a good frame of mind to answer football-related questions and asked that their decision be respected should the players not wish to answer certain questions.

Hoyer stated: “It is still a unique situation. I hope you will respect the players who are attending today if they don’t want to answer questions about the resumption of matches. Our sporting director Peter Moller can answer your questions.”

“We have been in contact with Christian Eriksen again today. His condition remains good and stable, but he needs further tests today.”
