Joao Mario’s move to Sporting is still not over the line as the clubs involved continue to try and work out final details, according to reports.

Today’s print edition of Lisbon-based newspaper Record claim that the deal for the midfielder is still stalling as Sporting attempt to negotiate the fee down at the last minute.

The player’s agent Federico Pastorello is working to complete the deal, reportedly in talks with Inter to make sure that the transfer saga end comes to a prompt end.

However, Inter are holding firm on the informally agreed €7.5 million fee after coming down from their initial asking price of €10 million.

Sporting believe that the player’s obvious desire to remain at the club after spending last season on loan in Lisbon gives them an advantage from which to negotiate.

Both parties wish for an end to the transfer saga with the 28-year-old’s permanent transfer to the Portuguese club a strongly desired outcome, but it remains to be seen if details will be finalized.
