Arturo Vidal has marked Chile’s 1-1 draw against Argentina to open the team’s Copa America campaign by posting a video of he and Argentine captain Lionel Messi exchanging shirts.

The Inter man expresses his personal affection for the Argentine despite the two being long-time rivals on the pitch.

Prior to this season the pair shared a dressing room for two seasons with Vidal playing for Messi’s club Barcelona, but otherwise the two players have only ever been on opposite sides of club and international competition.

Vidal’s post reads: “Football has given me everything. I had many experiences, I won titles, I visited many countries, I played for the best teams in the world.

“Football has also given me a good future for my family. But the cutest thing it’s given me is friends. Always nice to see you, Alien!”
