Ashley Young is set to leave Inter for Premier League side Aston Villa on a one-year contract in the coming days, with a medical in the next 24 hours.

English broadcaster Sky Sports are reporting that the Englishman has come to an agreement with the Birmingham-based club, and will soon be a Villa player should no further complications arise.

The 35-year-old’s contract with the Nerazzurri is set to expire on June 30, and he will leave Inter as a free agent to join the English side.

Inter offered him a one-year extension on his deal, with new Nerazzurri manager Simone Inzaghi thought to admire the player, but he has made his decision and will not be accepting the offer.

Young will return to the club which employed him between 2007 and 2011, having also enjoyed lengthy spells with Watford and Manchester United before joining the Nerazzurri in January 2020.

The Englishman’s contract with Villa runs for one year, but includes the option to extend a further year, until 2023, when the player will be 37.
