Former Fiorentina Sporting Director Pantaleo Corvino has given this thoughts on two important figures at the Giuseppe Meazza in recent seasons.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Italian offered opinions on striker Romelu Lukaku and departed Inter head coach Antonio Conte.

Corvino, now Director of Football for Serie B club Lecce, explained that he has watched Lukaku make great strides in his abilities and his all-round game, having observed him over the years.

Lukaku was considered to be an exciting youth prospect at Anderlecht before moving to Chelsea, where he began to show his abilities during loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Everton, earning him a permanent move from to the latter before being sold to Manchester United.

However, it has only been upon his transfer to Inter that the 28-year-old Belgian has demonstrated his best form.

Corvino mused: “Having known Lukaku for years, since he was a young player at Anderlechet, I would ask Romelu who the specialist is who has improved him in terms of dexterity, coordination, and technique over the years.”

Speaking about the departure of Antonio Conte in recent weeks, Corvino compared the situation of the former Inter manager to that of Genarro Gattuso, recently departed from Fiorentina weeks after joining with this analogy:

“I don’t know who has had a bad tooth before, but when it hurts it’s better to remove it.”
