Hellas Verona have made former Inter Primavera defender Gabriele defender at the behest of incoming manager Eusebio Di Francesco.

This according to Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb.com, who report that the 21-yeear-old is a player who Di Francesco wants to reunite with after the pair worked together during the latter’s spell in charge of Cagliari last season.

Zappa spent his entire youth career in the Primavera before leaving for Pescara in 2019, from which Cagliari brought him in on loan last season with an obligation to buy.

Now owned by the Rossoblu on a permanent basis, it is thought that Di Francesco considers the young right-back to be an exciting talent, and wants to build around the right-back in his new Verona project.

Di Francesco joins Verona after spells with the likes of Sassuolo, Roma, and Sampdoria as well as his recent time in charge of Cagliari, with the former Giallorossi having reached the Champions League semifinal with his former club in 2018.
