Inter Tracking Sampdoria’s €20 Million Rated Emil Audero As Samir Handanovic’s Replacement, Italian Media Report

Inter are considering the possibility of signing Sampdoria’s Emil Audero as a long-term replacement for Nerazzurri Number One Samir Handanovic.

This according to today’s print edition of Genoa-based newspaper Il Secolo XIX, who report that Sampdoria would consider selling the player for €20 million.

Inter are in search of a backup keeper to Handanovic, with the Slovenian set to stay on at the club for next season at least, but would also be looking to replace the Number One in the long-term, with the 2022-23 season aimed at as the beginning of Audero’s chance in the starting spot.

The 24-year-old has impressed for the Genoa-based club in Serie A since signing from Juventus, and it is thought that Inter also showed interest in the player in March.

Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferrero is thought to be considering the signing of veteran Roma keeper Antonio Mirante on a free transfer as a replacement for Audero should the Italian depart, with Mirante’s contract expiring at the end of the month.

Inter would face competition from Lazio and Atalanta for Audero’s signature, with the Serie A rivals also tracking the Italian.
