Roma midfielder has weighed in on the impact that Inter striker Romelu Lukaku could have on today’s EURO 2020 quarter-final clash between Belgium and Italy.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by L’Interista, the 21-year-old explained that the Nerazzurri man is a major threat and will be one of Belgium’s primary dangers during the match.

Lukaku is well known the players, coaches, and fans in Serie A, with the 28-year-old having showed impressive form in the country since joining the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2019.

The Belgian finished last season top of Serie A in combined goals and assists, and much focus in the lead-up to the match against Italy has been on whether the Azzurri defense can keep the Inter striker quiet.

Italy’s defenders are familiar with the challenge that playing against Lukaku poses, but as Zaniolo posits, they will be up for him and have the capacity to keep him from showing his devastating best during the match.

Zaniolo’s words:

“[Belgium] are strong. They have Lukaku – who is a phenomenon – and who knows whether they will also have De Bruyne and Eden Hazard back. In short, if they are in first place in the FIFA ranking there is a more than valid reason. Having said that, we have players able to put them in difficulty, and, at the same time, to stop their strengths
