Ivan Perisic could depart from Inter to join Roma with Giallorossi manager Jose Mourinho asking for the player, but the player’s salary could be an obstacle to the sale.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Croatian is one of the incoming Roma boss’s major targets for the summer.

It is thought that Perisic had been a target for the Portuguese manager when he was in charge of Manchester United in 2017, though in the end the English club never moved for the players.

Despite having changed clubs to Tottenham and then Roma since that time, it is believed that Mourinho is still an admirer of the 32-year-old, and has asked his current club to make a move for the player.

However, the Giallorossi are reluctant to bring in the player, whose age and salary (around €5 million net) are outside of their desired range with their objective being to make the squad more youthful.

It is thought that the Nerazzurri would like to sell Perisic in the summer, with the player entering the final year of his contract, and that they would rather sell him now than lose him next summer without a fee when his contract expires.

For the time being Roma are thought to have made their possible interest known, but talks have not progressed to anything serious.
