Inter-linked defender Emerson Palmieri could be set for a switch from Chelsea to Napoli, with the player wanted by Partenopei manager Luciano Spalletti.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the relationship between Emerson and Spalletti could prove decisive in determining the player’s fate.

Emerson is thought to be among the list of names linked to the Nerazzurri as the club have made the arrival of a left-sided player a priority in the summer transfer window.

However, Inter would face competition for the player’s signature should they move, with Serie A rivals Napoli among the clubs most interested in the players.

The admiration of Spalletti for the player, who he coached at Roma, is a major reason for the Partenopei’s interest in the player, and it is reported that the feeling is mutual, with the 26-year-old having described the current Napoli manager as “like a father” for his influence during their early months together in Rome.
