Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone wants Lautaro Martinez at the Colchoneros, with the Inter striker top of his list of attacking targets.

This according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, who report that the manager has asked the Spanish club to pursue the Argentinian Inter player.

Martinez has been linked away to top European clubs for some time, with Spanish giants Atletico and Real Madrid and Barcelona thought to be keen on him, and the Atletico manager has made his stance clear that he wants to link up with his countryman.

However, for the time being, the 23-year-old is happy at Inter and will not seek a move away.

The striker is currently on vacation after winning the Copa America with Argentina, but after some much-needed rest will return to the Nerazzurri, and it is thought that a contract renewal is on his agenda.

Inter are also hopeful that an extension can be agreed on, with the player’s financial demands thought to be around €5 million for a net salary.

However, Atletico’s interest is clear, and should an agreement not be reached on an extension the Spanish club will hope that they can bring the Argentine in.
