Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has talked about his ambitions ahead of next season.

Speaking to Inter TV, as reported by FCInterNews, the 27-year-old opened up about his desire for trophies, and explained that he wants to repeat the successes of last season.

Right now, Gagliardini is with the squad and new manager Simone Inzaghi in pre-season training, as the club look to prepare themselves to face the challenge of a season where they are defending the Scudetto against their rivals.

Last season, the Nerazzurri enjoyed an impressive campaign under Antonio Conte, winning the first Scudetto that the club has seen in eleven years, and the aim this year will be to show that the team is still strong enough under Conte’s successor Inzaghi to defend that success, as well as to progress further in the Champions League and Coppa Italia than the club managed to under Conte.

Gagliardini spoke about his vacation after last season, stating the following:

“During my holidays spent with my family, I also shared a few days with [Danilo] D’Ambrosio. It was fun and relaxing, and we also trained together.”

Speaking about the official return to training and the first days spent preparing for the new season he had this to say:

“The feelings of these first days of retreat are positive. We are working and putting energy in our legs, and obviously we await the return of our teammates to better prepare for the start of the season. At the moment there are many young players who are training with us. I must say that they work hard and make themselves available, this attitude will help them in the rest of their career.”

About his and the club’s trophy ambitions for next season, these were his words:

“First of all we will play a trophy in a single match [The Supercoppa Italia match against Juventus], which we want to win. Then we will certainly try to defend our title in the league, and do better in both the Champions League and the Coppa Italia.”

Lastly, he congratulated his teammates Nicolo Barella and Alessandro on winning the Euros with Italy:

“I congratulate my teammates again, with whom I have spoken in various chats. I am happy for Italy, which has become European Champion after a long time, and especially so during this period – it is a success that gives a big boost to everyone, not only in the world of sport.”
