Inter could be a step closer to signing Uruguayan midfielder Nahitan Nandez, with his current club Cagliari having indicated their willingness to allow the player to depart on loan with an option to buy.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, who report that the Nerazzurri are keenly interested in the Cagliari man, but would only be able to bring him in on an initial loan formula.

Several other players, including Dalbert, Radja Nainggolan and Lucien Agoume will be included in the deal in some capacity but it remains to be seen how, the report continues.

Nandez is admired by the Nerazzurri, with the versatile 25-year-old able to play in various positions including central midfield.

However, it is thought that his transformation into a right wing-back under Leonardo Semplici last season has led the Nerazzurri to view him as a potential replacement for the departed Achraf Hakimi.

The Uruguayan has been linked with a number of clubs, and Inter’s interest has always been known, but it is thought that the price tag would be too high for the Nerazzurri to bring him in during the summer.

However, should the club be able to sign the player on loan initially before buying him later, the fee for him could be spread out and his arrival would become viable.

With the Rossoblu having given the green light to this kind of formula, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta could get to work progressing a deal for Nandez to arrive for next season.
