Inter’s pre-season trip to the United States of America could be at risk of cancellation due to a sharp increase of COVID-19 cases, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport today, serious meetings have begun taking place at Inter among executives who are starting to worry about the health implications of travelling to Florida next week.

The team are due to fly out next Thursday with the first game against Arsenal on the 25th July. The new Delta variant of the coronavirus though is spreading rapidly all over the world and now the club are not sure it is wise to travel so far.

The contacts involved with plane travel, moving through busy airports, and having contact with players on the pitch who have also made very long journeys are a major worry to Inter.

It is not yet clear what the legal implications of cancelling the trip would be.
