An ex-Inter midfielder has suggested that Inter made the right decision when they sold Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint Germain as he is easier to replace than one of Romelu Lukaku or Lautaro Martinez, according to a report in the Italian media.

Whilst speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Evaristo Beccalossi suggested that of those three star Inter players, the correct one was sold in order to balance the books. This is because replacing natural goalscorers can be incredibly difficult in football.

“If they had asked me which of these three I would have been deprived of, I would have said Hakimi, but with all respect to him.”

Evaristo Beccalossi also suggested that Inter should not feel too aggrieved about the fact they cannot spend much money this summer and have to sell players, because that is just how it goes in football sometimes. Other than an elite few clubs, not everyone can buy any player they want every year.

“It is part of the moments, sometimes you can spend, others not. We must be protagonists knowing that not it can be as before.”

Achraf Hakimi was sold to Paris Saint Germain for an upfront fee of €65 million which has helped Inter address the financial situation.
