Journalist Alessandro Vocalelli has given his apprsal of Simone Inzaghi’s burgeoning project at Inter.
Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the journalist explained that in his view the new Nerazzurri coach will attempt to keep up the momentum of the past two seasons under Anotnio Conte.
Vocalelli gives his thoughts on the nature of the transition from Conte to Inzaghi, with the departure of the Scudetto-winning coach obviously the catalyst for change, and his successor ready to bring stylistic alterations that will affect the core of how the Nerazzurri play.
However, he also believes that the new season will see a serious attempt to keep up the momentum already in place from last season’s Scudetto triumph rather than a typical transitional season.
The journalist believes that the former Lazio manager is a strong choice to take over from Conte, and will do a fine job of taking over from the latter’s work:
“One would be prudent, let’s face it, if not skeptical [about Inter’s chances next season], precisely because of the choice of the former Lazio coach. And while it is understandable that Antonio Conte has left his mark, it is nevertheless frankly incomprehensible why the quality of the choice of Marotta and Ausilio is not fully appreciated. Because – and this is the key word – Inter’s was a choice, and not a parachute. There were other free coaches, but Inter wanted Inzaghi, because of his style of play and more.”
“Inter will not continue to play as they did with Conte,” he continued, “perhaps in many men, perhaps in the form, but with more of the ball – which is almost everything – shorter, faster, less intense and less aggressive, and with an idea of football so different that players feel like they are at the centre of a new project.”
“Yes, because the project – of course – is to confirm the club’s Scudetto, to continue winning,” he made clear about the nature of Inzaghi’s project.
