With the European Championships now concluded, domestic teams around the continent can start to fully prepare for their new domestic seasons.
Transfer windows are open and it’s time to finalise the squads ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Serie A champions Inter Milan were dealt a bitter and unexpected blow in regards to Christian Eriksen. The Dane’s future health is paramount but it’s especially disappointing for Inter fans as the midfielder was finally starting to find his feet after joining from Spurs at the start of 2020.
Inter must now look ahead but could they look back to a former target as they aim to bolster that midfield?
A Point to Prove
It was no great surprise to see Dele Alli left out of the England squad for Euro 2020 but the news capped a miserable season for the Tottenham Hotspur star. Regularly left out of match day XIs by former manager Jose Mourinho, Dele simply wasn’t getting enough game time to fall under Gareth Southgate’s radar.
It was, therefore, surprising that the player didn’t complete a proposed loan move at the start of 2021. Rumours suggested that Dele was wanted by both Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, both of whom could have offered the minutes that he needed to squeeze into that England squad.
Spurs now have a new manager and Dele Alli has a point to prove to the incoming Nuno Espirito Santo.
Despite their success across the 2020/21 campaign, it’s been an uncertain close season for Inter. Manager Antonio Conte left the club just three weeks after leading them to the title after suggestions that key players would have to be sold.
With Christian Eriksen now on the sidelines, more uncertainty has followed and Inter are not widely expected to repeat that success next season.
The verdict is in from the sportsbooks and, according to those outlets affiliated with sbo.net, Juventus are the clear favourites to lift the trophy at the end of 2021/22. Inter are second on the list, followed by AC Milan, Atalanta, Roma and Napoli.
If there is any transfer news or any other significant developments involving the top clubs, sbo.net’s panel of sportsbooks will reflect any changes in the markets.
It’s a good website for those wanting to track odds and there will also be some news and opinion articles relating to Serie A and football as a whole.
If those articles and the odds have fired anyone’s interest, there will also be a panel of sportsbooks accepting new registrations.
Many of those outlets have generous sign up promotions in place and there will also be a range of funding options and customer service facilities.
What Next For Dele?
Dele Alli may well be regretting that he stayed at Spurs for the second half of the 2020/21 season. It’s the pinnacle for every player to represent their country and one of his aims will be to get back into that England squad.
Former Inter boss Mourinho has now gone so everyone will get a new start and a clean slate under Nuno Espirito Santo. Dele will have that opportunity and, with Mourinho gone, he will feel that he now has a manager who will appreciate him and make him part of the first team once again.
Of course, there are options and, after a frustrating period since Mourinho took over in November 2019, Dele might just feel that he needs a fresh start in order to boost his career.
Can Inter Tempt Him?
While Dele Alli may not actively seek a move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, that could change if a club such as Inter Milan comes in to make a formal bid.
While he and Christian Eriksen offer different styles of play, they are both attacking midfielders who contribute a significant amount of goals behind the front men.
In all probability, the summer window will pass with Dele remaining at Tottenham Hotspur. What happens after that will depend on the player and the new manager.
If there is little change and the midfielder finds himself on the fringes of the first team squad, the best option would surely be to move on and find game time elsewhere.
