PSV Eindhoven Coach Roger Schmidt On Inter Target Denzel Dumfries: “His Departure A Matter Of Days Or Weeks”

PSV head coach Roger Schmidt has made clear the situation of Inter target Denzel Dumfries, with the 25-year-old expected to depart in the summer.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference prior to PSV’s Champions League qualifying mach against Galatasaray, reported by FCInterNews, the PSV coach was straightforward in his words on the future of Dumfries as well as teammate Donyell Malen.

Dumfries has emerged as a top target during the summer transfer window for the Nerazurri as the club search for a player with the right profile to replace Achraf Hakimi after the Moroccan’s departure for Paris Saint-Germain.

It remains to be seen whether an agreement can be reached to bring the Dutchman to the Giuseppe Meazza, with several other European clubs also pursuing him.

However, as Schmidt states, Dumfries and Malen, who is also attracting significant transfer interest, are very likely to be on their way from PSV soon.

On the pair’s departures, Schmidt said that it would be “A matter of days or weeks, I don’t know exactly.”

“Now they are not in the group,” he continued, “they have to rest after the European Championship, but their case is different because they explicitly told us they want to leave PSV.”

“Last year it was already clear that it would be their last season here with us. The situation is this: they have not yet signed with a new club, but there is interest and negotiations are underway. For these matches they are not an option for PSV.”
