Inter’s chances of landing Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez should become clearer over the coming week, according to Italian media.

According to L’Interista.it, the 25-year-old will return from his summer break early next week after featuring for Uruguay at the Copa America in Brazil, and this should allow negotiations to accelerate.

Inter have been in lengthy talks with Cagliari over a deal for the former Boca Juniors player but are yet to agree on the structure of a deal, with the Nerazzurri keen to bring him in on loan with a view to a permanent transfer next summer.

Similarly, Cagliari are looking to secure Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan after a loan spell last season and have offered him a two-year €1.5 million per season contract.

The Belgian still has another year remaining on his deal at Inter and is working to terminate his contract, but neither player nor club have been able to find a compromise on a severance package.

It is felt that the upcoming week may allow for a breakthrough however, and Inter may look to involve an exchange in a deal for Nandez that would move Nainggolan to Sardinia.
