Inter midfielder Matias Vecino will not be sold this summer despite reported interest in the Uruguayan from Napoli.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the midfielder is in head coach Simone Inzaghi’s plans for the Nerazzurri project next season and that the club would only consider his departure for a major offer.

Vecino was unable to play a major role for the Nerazzurri last season due to injury struggles, but he will hope that he can come back to full form and fitness during the upcoming season and help the club as they look to defend last year’s Scudetto crown.

Inzaghi admires the 29-year-old and sees his playing characteristics as being very much in line with what he wants from a midfielder in his brand of football, and would like to give the player a major role.

Napoli are looking to bring the midfielder in for next season, with midfielder Diego Demme set to miss a significant portion of the season through injury, but they are unlikely to be able to convince the Nerazzurri to part ways with him.
