Newly-appointed Juventus head coach Max Allegri has given his prediction for the upcoming Scudetto race, anticipating that Inter will be the favourites to defend their crown from last season.

Speaking in a press conference upon his return to the Bianconeri, as reported by FCInterNews, the Italian tactician emphasized that he has work to do if he is to catch up to the Nerazzurri.

The Nerazzurri’s title win last season was their first in eleven years, and broke a nine-year run of consecutive Scudetti by Juventus.

The Bianconeri, meanwhile, were only able to avoid missing out on the Champione League places on the final day of the season, finishing thirteen points behind the Nerazzurri after dominating Serie A for nearly a decade.

Allagri believes that, despite the loss of head coach Antonio Conte, the Nerazzurri will be able to carry over their form from the season just gone, and that it is Juventus who will begin the season chasing them.

“Inter have won the Scudetto and are the favorites,” Alegri said, “we must follow a path that will lead us to win the championship. Then there is the Super Cup, there is the Italian Cup and there is the Champions League, it must be desired, on everyone’s part. Now let’s think about going into the first round, one step at a time.”
