Simone Inzaghi could be without two of his main attacking options for Inter’s Serie A opener against Genoa, with Lautaro Martinez set to miss the match through suspension and Alexis Sanchez a doubt due to injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that in addition to the Argentine’s suspension, the Chilean is still recovering from a calf injury.

Martinez picked up his fifth yellow card of the 2020-21 season during the final game of the campaign, against Udinese, and will therefore be unavailable for selection during next season’s opener due to a ban.

Sanchez, meanwhile, is still dealing with an injury to his calf which he picked up while on international duty with Chile at the Copa America.

At the moment, the Chilean is not working with the rest of the group in the club’s pre-season training camp, and it remains to be seen if he will be able to recover in time to be fit and ready for the Genoa match on August 21.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku has been back with the squad since Monday and should be available for the Serie A opener, but who his likely partner is remains a mystery, with Inzaghi possibly having to rely on an arrival in the transfer market or one of the young attackers currently at the club.
