Inter are still holding out serious hopes of signing PSV Eindhoven right-back Denzel Dumfries despite being in advanced negotiations with Cagliari for Nahitan Nandez, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, Denzel Dumfries still appears to be Inter’s favourite choice for the right-back position in terms of footballing ability, but out of him, Nahitan Nandez, and Hector Bellerin, he is the most difficult to acquire financially.

PSV Eindhoven have not yet come around to the idea of a loan deal with an option to buy next summer. They only want to sell the Dutchman for a fee this summer which Inter cannot afford to do.

If the position of the Dutch club were to shift, it could jeopardise Nahitan Nandez’s chances of moving to Inter as they would likely switch their approach to sign Denzel Dumfries.

He is now training alone away from the PSV squad.
