Prominent Italian football agent Beppe Accardi has given his opinion that Inter should take the opportunity to sell Romelu Lukaku for a massive fee, and that the Belgian’s replacement should be Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata.
Speaking to Italian news outlet L’Interista, the agent suggested that the size of the offer for the striker from English club Chelsea makes it hard to turn down, especially with the benefits to the club in their financial position.
Nerazzurri fans will worry about the idea of losing Lukaku, given the importance of his contributions on the pitch last season, with the Belgian having led Serie A in joint goals and assists while leading the club to their first Scudetto in eleven years.
However, according to Accardi, the financial benefits of accepting the significant offer from Chelsea for the 28-year-old ultimately outweigh the cost on the pitch of losing him, especially if the club can replace him with the right player.
“Inter should sell [Lukaku] for more than €100 million, and in a hurry,” the agent opined. “We are talking about €100 million. I’d sell him and bet on Zapata. Today Inter need to look at the accounts.”
On what the club should prioritize in the market going forward should Lukaku depart, Accardi stated “They don’t need to do much, they just have to complete the spine of the team.”
