Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen could return to a football pitch in the coming months, with the Dane reported to have told teammates that he expects to play again in about four or five months.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 29-year-old opened up while visiting with the squad at the club’s training ground, and that he is confident that he can make a return to football despite much uncertainty around the details of his situation.

The Dane has been back in Milan after having spent the past several weeks in Denmark recovering from the cardiac arrest suffered during his national team’s EURO 2020 opener against Finland.

The player is in good spirits and has given indications that he is ready to continue making progress on his recovery with the end in mind of making a return to football as soon as possible.

Eriksen has not yet initiated any tests which would yield information about his eligibility to return to football for Inter, with the player only able to make his return in Italian football should his health emergency be determined to have caused by a temporary infection or inflammation, and not by an underlying condition which would require him to be permanently fitted with the ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrulator) which he is currently using.

However, the player plans to continue carrying out his recovery program, to undergo the necessary examinations in due time, and he hopes that his return to football can come in the next few months, whether for Inter or outside of Serie A.
