Inter could face competition for the signature of Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata, with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid also interested in bringing in the 30-year-old.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the striker’s current club could also decide to keep him in their squad for next season should they not be able to secure Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.
The Nerazzurri have been chasing Zapata as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku ever since it has appeared clear that the Belgian is headed for the exit door.
The Bergamo-based club have made clear that the Colombian will cost no less than €40-45 million but the Nerazzurri have weighed up meeting their valuation, but interest from the Colchoneros could complicate this should the Spaniards be able to make a superior offer.
Moreover, La Dei are thought to have been relying on a plan to bring in Chelsea’s Abraham to replace Zapata before they would consider selling their main striker, and for now it looks as though the Englishman prefers a move to Arsenal.
