Inter have not given up on signing Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez, and could bring the Uruguayan in even if Denzel Dumfries also arrives from PSV.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that Dumfries’s arrival does not preclude the Uruguayan also being brought in, but that the Nerazzurri will not push for his signing if they cannot do so on their preferred terms.

Nandez had been in pole position to come in as the replacement for Achraf Hakimi on the right of the team, but with the incoming fee from Romelu Lukaku’s sale to Chelsea, Inter no longer have to rely on a budget option to replace the Moroccan and can freely pursue their first-choice option Dumfries.

Nandez is not, however, off the table entirely, although he would only be brought in on a paid loan with an option to buy, and at the right terms.

The Nerazzurri do not want to pay more than €2 million as a loan fee for the 25-year-old, and want his gross salary of €4 million to more or less equal the savings of Radja Nainggolan’s wages as the Belgian goes the other way.

The Rossoblu, meanwhile, want €4 million as a loan fee, and are hoping that the Nerazzurri will pay an even larger portion of Nainggolan’s salary than the €3 million on the table as a severance payment.
