Very few clubs have the history that the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have with each other. From being the same club to splitting into two globally successful halves, these two clubs are themselves the definition of a rare feat.
Because of their shared history, the rivalry between them is even bigger. Although both clubs share the same stadium, that’s about the only thing they’re comfortable sharing. They are not so keen to share the spoils whenever they have to play with each other.
Derby di Milano is fantastic for many reasons including constant delivery of spellbinding football, and it must be said that there have been many legendary team performances and there’ll be more.

But, today is for remembering the best individual performances by Inter Milan players at the Derby di Milano in the last decade.
In no particular order, here’s a list of some of the best individual displays in a match featuring Inter Milan and AC Milan;
Goran Pandev, Inter 2 — 0 Milan (January 2010)
In an intense matchup featuring some of the biggest stars — Ronaldinho, Maicon, Beckham, Zanetti, Sneijder — in world football, Inter did superbly well to come out on top. And Pandev contributed beautifully to the two goals in the game, assisting one and scoring the other.
In the tenth minute, Pandev delivered a smooth long ball to set up Milito for the first goal of the game. He was a thorn in the flesh of the Milan defence.
Early in the second half, he made a brilliant run that put him one-on-one against the keeper but he hit the post.
He eventually got the second goal of the game when he scored a brilliant free-kick from way out. Dida — or the post, could do nothing to stop that one.
Diego Alberto Milito, Inter 4 — 2 Milan (May 2012)
In what was a good display from Milan’s Ibrahimovic, Inter’s Milito was superb. Not many players can brag of scoring in the Milan Derby not to mention scoring a hat-trick.
Diego Milito’s three-goal performance was a delight to watch. He was everywhere, picking up loose balls and causing defenders to make mistakes. Two of his goals were penalties and they were flawlessly taken and well beyond the keeper on the two occasions.
Inter’s victory was compensation of sorts for an underwhelming season.
Mauro Icardi, Inter 3 — 2 Milan (October 2017)
Icardi’s hat-trick on that night in October puts his display on the night as one of the overall best player performances in a Deby matchup.
The game itself was topsy-turvy with Inter having to gain the lead three times before an assured victory. Icardi found himself on the right end of two delicious crosses and he finished accordingly. His third was a well-taken penalty.
After the third goal, Icardi put off his shirt in celebration. That gesture was well-earned.
Romelu Lukaku, Inter 3 — 0 Milan (February 2021)
Inter’s performance in February against Milan was a ten-over-ten team display. Everyone played their part. Lautaro Martinez had a brace, Handanovic made some spectacular saves and Perisic’s energy caused trouble for Milan’s defence.
Still, it is possible to pick out Lukaku’s performance as different. His pace and strength got Inter forward many times. He set up Martinez for his first goal. He finished the night with an incredible individual goal, rolling and turning Milan’s defence inside out.
