Inter Considering Signing Napoli Captain Lorenzo Insigne Next Summer On A Free Transfer, Italian Media Report

Inter are weighing up a move for Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne next summer when his contract expires with his current club.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that should the 30-year-old not come to a contract extension agreement with the Partenopei the Nerazzurri could wait until next summer to bring him in.

Insigne’s stalling contract talks with Napoli have put Inter and a number of other clubs on high alert, with the possibility of him becoming available this summer very real as the Partenopei could look to avoid losing him for free next summer and instead sell him for a fee right now.

However, as it stands the Partenopei are demanding €30 million for the winger, more than Inter would consider paying, and would not accept the €15 million plus Alexis Sanchez offered by the Nerazzurri.

As such, the Nerazzurri could wait until the end of June 2022 when Insigne’s deal runs out and then bring him in without a transfer fee.

It is expected that the club would offer €7 million as a signing bonus to the player, in addition to a net total of €24 million in wages and the availability of image rights, as part of an operation to convince him.

Should Insigne remain at Napoli this summer and not renew with the club before January, then at that point the Nerazzurri would be able to begin talks with the player about a move next summer on a free.
