There is an outside chance that Ivan Perisic will play in the second striker role for Inter against Genoa in their opening game of the Serie A season this evening, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media today.

As has been reported by Sky Sport in Italy, Simone Inzaghi is going to set his team up in a 3-5-1-1 formation which is only a slight variation from the 3-5-2 that he always used during his five years at Lazio.

The reason for the lone striker with another forward just behind is because Inter are light on attackers with Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez out injured.

Many believe the player behind Edin Dzeko will be Stefano Sensi who is looking to rejuvenate his Inter career. There is a chance though that Ivan Perisic may start in that role despite always being a wide player.

The Croatian was heavily linked with a move away this summer.
