Inter are getting closer to a contract extension agreement with striker Lautaro Martinez, and could offer the Argentine a net of €6.5 million per season to seal the deal.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the Nerazzurri could offer the amount as a final push to get the agreement over the line and secure the 24-year-old’s future at the club.

Renewing with Martinez is among the Nerazzurri’s major priorities during the remainder of the summer, with the club hoping that he will commit his future having already suffered the losses of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku during the transfer window.

Talks are well underway on a new deal and last week significant progress was made in a meeting with the Argentine’s agent on a new contract.

However, there is no agreement yet and there is still some distance between the parties on the financial terms, and the Nerazzurri look set to improve their offer in order to make sure the player is convinced.
