New Inter signing Joaquin Correa is glad to have made the switch from Lazio, and prepared for the challenge of playing for the reigning Scudetto holders.
Speaking to Inter TV, as reported by FCInter1908, the Argentine gave his thoughts on the emotions and expectations he has upon joining his new club.
Correa links up with his manager from the Biancocelesti, Simone Inzaghi, and with an international teammate in the form of Lautaro Martinez, and he is joining a club who will look to not only defend the Serie A title but also make progress in the Champions League.
The 27-year-old knows that playing for the Nerazzurri and meeting the expectations that the club has will be difficult, but he is ambitious and is ready to face the challenges that a new season with a new club will present.
Of playing for the Italian champions, the Argentine stated that “It is a source of pride, and a huge responsibility. I wanted so much to come here. To me it means a lot. I really want to help and show what I can do.”
He explained that “Inzaghi was important to my decision. I had other options but I chose to be with the coach and at this great club. Returning after nine years was great. I remember when I came here as a child. Wonderful emotions.”
“I am delighted to be back with even more desire to do better,” were the words that most reflected his happiness at joining his new club.
Of national teammate Martinez, he said that “We talked a lot, he called me and asked me how if I would join. I was so pleased, he is a friend. We are in the national team together, I am so pleased to meet him here.”
Of his countryman and former Nerazzurri midfielder Juan Veron he said, “He called me now and told me it was a great choice and that he had a great time here. To take advantage of and live to the fullest the experience of being at Inter. I will listen to him. I thank the fans for all their messages. I can’t wait to show him who I am.”
